Should Rapists Be Hanged ?

Women safety has been a matter of debate for almost an eternity now . Women all around the globe at some point of time in their lives have faced sexual harrasment,sexism,abuse and other forms of abuse or harrasment . Though society has become a bit more liberal and accepting than in the past but violence against women are only increasing. Rape cases are at all time peak ,justice for the victims is delayed or outright denied. So, how could we stop  this ? How can we ensure safety of women all around the globe? Most people today think that death penalty is the only way forward to stop this. It just shows how much we love violence though we have transcended ourselves from Chimpanzees to humans but we still have that animal instinct. And I could not help but laugh when people pitch this insane idea to stop rapes.Let me  throw some stats if you believe that death penalties stop rape. China has highest  31,833  rapes per year though china has most number of death penalties per annum ,India which has seen heinous cases of rapes increasing every year has provision of  death penalty for rapists. This clearly shows death penalty are of no help to stop rapes. What do you think a potential rapist would think about being prosecuted while being engulfed with his  extreme hate and condescension towards women? It is utter stupidity if you have this notion in your head.  This might be offensive to some of you but it is what it is ! Even now the repercussions of being a rapist is extreme still people commit this crime. This is because our society is extremely  patriarchal . We always tend to look down upon women, we treat daughters at our homes as liabilities . But instead of trying to change this notion within your family we want to kill those who commit this crime . I am not saying there should not be a harsh punishment but what I feel is death is an easy escape for these demons  ,the punishment should be such that they realise how heinous their crime is and have  to live  with that guilt for eternity with zero acceptance from the society. 

So what exactly can we do to stop this ? Well , the only way to stop this is we have to change our mindset , we have to completely change the way we think about a women , we have to in-grave this notion that man and women are equal in children's mind and have to prove this to them through our actions . Political, societal and individual change will only eventually lead to decrease in violence against women. Sex education should be mandatory and teachers should properly explain everything to the students and not shy away from it. We have to empower women , we have to give them equal opportunities in the society , we have to accept a woman's desires her ambitions . So let us all be the change , let us start form our family, let us be more liberal ,let us show the generations to come that all humans are equal through our actions. This is the only way that I feel we could stop violence against women .
